Why Fame? Notes on fame.
- less able to trust relationships/ harder to tell if people are going to be there for the long haul
- fame is fleeting
- unable to relate to the average person
- can become out of touch easily
- more embarrassment, guilt, and responsibility
- fear of failure worsens/ inability to cope with failure
- more people depend on you financially by investing their careers in your business
- the whole world is your “big brother”
- higher the high, the downer the down fall
- substance addiction and fame are substitutes for the feeling of loneliness, but instead of helping it is isolating and lonelier in the long run

“A Month in the Country” by Turgenev is a play with smart dialogue and a plot complex enough to be a movie. It isn’t the same as the 1987 Pat O’Connor movie also titled “A Month in the Country.” Turgenev’s play focuses on jealously and the subtle games people play when they are infatuated with one another. Taking place on a countryside estate, the characters develop “crushes” that permanently alters their friendships forever. I would label this play a drama, and not a romance. It is also packed with good monologues for actors and actresses of all ages.

“The Lower Depths” by Maxim Gorky
Literally- “At the bottom”
Early 1900s- prior to the Russian Revolution
This play is a snapshot of the lives of a group of Russian slum-dogs sharing a living unit. The play is dark, grim, with smart dialogue and conversations you could relate to the modern world.

Satine ” What good can I do you by pitying you?”

The Tartar “He was a fine old man. The law of life was the law of his heart… And he who obeys this law, is good, while he who disregards it, perishes…”
The Baron “What law, Prince?”
The Tartar. “There are a number-different ones-you know…”
The Baron. “Proceed!”
The Tartar “Do not do harm unto others- such is the law!”
Satine “Oh- you mean the Penal Code, criminal and correctional, eh?”
The Baron ” And also the Code of Penalties inflicted by Justices of the Peace!”
The Tartar “No. I mean the Koran. It is the supreme law- an your own soul ought to be the Koran -yes!”
Kleshtch “It wheezes like all hell! But the Princes speaks the truth- one must live abiding by the law- by the teachings of the Gospels…”

The Lower Depths; A Play in Four Acts

I’ve been watching this mama spider grow and create a mansion of a web. It’s called the golden silk orb-weaver or the banana spider. From what I’ve read online they spin a web of silk that glistens like gold in the sunlight. This spider’s web is white like a typical spider web. They also only bite if they are pinched or held, but the bite isn’t poisonous and is less painful than a bee sting. (Yes, the websites I’ve been reading listed “pinch” but I don’t know why anyone would pinch a spider!) These spiders can be found all over the natural parts of Florida.
Update: The spider left shortly after I made the post and then the web turned golden.
